Foot Pain

MANY CAUSES FOR FOOT PAIN:

There are many different causes for foot pain. There are many bones, joints, ligaments, and tendons that can cause pain.

But often, the general treatment recommendations are the same for most of the causes.

2 KEY QUESTIONS:

OTHERWISE, THE GENERAL ADVICE IS THE SAME FOR MOST CAUSES:

  • Rest
  • Ice
  • Anti-inflammatory medications
  • See a foot specialist (podiatrist, pedorthist, or chiropodist) [Non-OHIP, Self-Refer]
  • Consider seeing a physiotherapist [usually Non-OHIP, Self-Refer. No Referral Required for OHIP Physiotherapy]
  • Consider orthotic footwear
Note: If your private insurance requires a letter from your doctor for services like Orthotics or Physiotherapy, we can usually do so without the need for a visit. These insurance letters are not covered by OHIP, so a fee applies.
