Why the wait list is closed

This decision is due to significant changes the Ontario government has made to the way Family Doctors practice (the new “FHO+ model”).

Under this new model, Family Doctors will no longer be rewarded for managing large, efficient practices. In fact, doctors who work this way can face financial disincentives and even penalties.

Instead, the new system will encourage smaller patient rosters and more frequent visits, potentially even returning to outdated approaches such as only having time to address one issue per appointment.
