The Invisible Work of Family Doctors
Actual Work vs Number of Patients Seen
I have written plenty on this topic in past years.
If you were to look at Family Doctor’s schedules, you would think they are “only” seeing 20 patients per day and 100 patients per week.
But behind the scenes, Family Doctors are caring for OVER ONE HUNDRED patients in any given day, and SEVERAL HUNDREDS of patients every week.
- Prescriptions
- Messages
- Specialist Notes
- Bloodwork Results
- Test Results
- Phone Calls
- Emails
- etc, etc, etc
None of this work is truly recognized.
Very little of a Family Doctor’s work these days is actually seeing patients face-to-face.
